WE BELONG
The Interactive and Participative Urban Exhibition
A dynamic experience that invited individuals to playfully express themselves, sparking conversations about belonging, home, and the diverse experiences that shaped lives in Dortmund, Germany—whether by birth, migration, or other paths.
The exhibition was more than a mere showcase; it was a collective endeavour, encouraging the active participation of people from all walks of life. It served as a communal celebration of shared space, experiences, and aspirations. The goal was to foster connections and meaningful exchanges, transcending the boundaries of familiarity.
The event culminated in a display and exchange of public art, a collective expression of the diverse and rich tapestry of Dortmund.

With these stamps, the audience was invited to participate in creating pillow artwork. Making poetry/text and contributing their thoughts and relations related to the theme.
The audience was then free to display their pillows on the small island using the attached strings.
At the end of the exhibition at the vernissage, the audience and participants were invited to take a pillow with them. This created an exchange of thoughts between strangers in the city and displaying their artwork in the homes of their neighbours.
The Participation
Through a series of workshops, words were collected that people associated with Home and Belonging. With these words, block printing stamps were created.
